What PoE Injector is compatible with the AP541N?

My 3550 switch PoE is pre-standard.  Have been looking for a Cisco power injector to support this.  Tried using the AIR-PWRINJ3, but the power adapters plug that came with the AP541N does not fit the injectors connection.  What Poe Injector is compatible?

I'm not really a wifi expert, and you would probably get a better answer by posting your question in the wireless section of the community (https://supportforums.cisco.com/community/netpro/small-business/wireless), but I can tell you that the AIR-PWRINJ3 is part of the Cisco Aironet access point family, which use a different power supply to that of the AP541N.  I believe the power injector simply delivers IEEE power, so it should work with the AP541N, but you would need to purchase a different powersupply - AIR-PWR-B= I believe.

Sorry I can't be more certain, but as I said, I think you'll get a better response from the wireless area of the community.

So the issue is the power cable?  INJ3 is the latest there is.  Can't you find the power cable from your nearest electrical shop?

It's not really the plug (as in the cable between the wall outlet and the injector), but rather the connector on the power brick.  The injector needs a 48V DC supply that can deliver a little under half an amp, and has a particular shaped connector.  I don't remember offhand if the AP541N power supply is 48V or not (though 12V rings a bell), but clearly the connector is the wrong shape.

A generic 48V power adaptor from n electronics shop should work in principle, but the use of one will likely void your warranty, and you may have problems getting TAC support for any problems you run into.

I tested the AIR-PWRINJ3 in the lab and it won't power up the AP541N. Reason being is that the AIR-PWRINJ3 is not IEEE 802.3af compliant. Any power injector that is IEEE 802.3af compliant and meet the power requirements for the AP541N should work.
