Kernel Panic when installing vWSA in Hyper-V

Windows 11 with Hyper-V Manager v 10

my steps:

• download coeus-15-2-0-164-S100V.vhdx.tgz Hypervisor Image from Virtuelle Cisco Secure Web Appliance - Cisco
• extract a vhdx image from the tgz archive
• hyper-v manager > New virtual machine
• 3 CPU cores, 8 GB Ram according to the documentation
• short after start I get a kernel panic message and the VM restarts.

does anybody else have this issue?

never tried on Windows 11 :

check the requirement.

the reqs are met, Win 11 with Hyper-V v 10, vWSA 15.2

can you please confirm the secure boot is disabled + you are using Gen 2 ?

@amojarra I use generation 1

Can someone with Hyper-V available try to start a Hyper-V image here Software Download - Cisco Systems ? You don’t even need a license - the kernel panic appears within the first few seconds of the initial attempt to start an image.

I've tried with Hyper-V server 2019 and 2022 versions 14.5.1-008 and 14.5.1-016 last week with Gen2 VM they were OK, I will try to check 15.2 as well if my LAB is still up. 

meanwhile may I ask to please share the Kernel panic Error ?

screenshots are attached. The VM starts only when configured as a Generation 1 VM. With Generation 2 I got another error (also attached).

I got this when configured Generation 2 (just wanted to test after you mentioned that Gen2 works for you):

the order of screenshot reversed (read them from the bottom up).

would opening a support ticket be a better option? I open a case if somebody confirms that it doesn't work.

Hi,

   I've done this in the past without any issue; please carefully follow guidelines and understand requirements for installation; also, starting AsyncOS 15.x, only generation 2 is supported: https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/security/content_security/virtual_appliances/Cisco_Content_Security_Virtual_Appliance_Install_Guide.pdf

thanks Cristian, I got an error "no operation system was loaded" (see screenshot above in the thread) if I used generation 2.

I was able to install and launch WSA 15.2.0-164 on Hyper-V in Windows 11

Generation 2

coeus-15-2-0-164-S100V-disk-0.vhdx

The Secure Boot should be Off 

if I turn on the Secure Boot I get this Error:

Here is my Windows version: 

I tried with Windows 10 - 2019 and 2022 and they were all OK with the same WSA Image.
