How long does the IdP certificate last? I know for sure that my AzureAD certificate is good until 2023, but I'm continually have to update my IdP certificate every 6-12 months.
The new industry standard is that public certificates have 1 year validity. Cisco will be introducing a new option to use a Cisco signed certificate with 5 year duration in order to avoid you having to update that cert so often. This is similar to what MS have done and is in addition to the existing option to use a 1 year signed certificate issued by public certificate authority.
