Why does Webex activate the desktop microphone when not in use? It does this many times throughout the day. I simply can not allow this to occur given the nature of my employment.

It is because it listens for ultrasound from video devices. You can disable this from settings in the Webex application, “Use Ultrasound”.

just keep in mind, if you disable this setting it will no longer be able to auto-detect you are in the room and pair to the room device and you may want to try using Wifi based detection instead. Administration - Manage Wi-Fi Discovery of Cisco Webex Devices

For sure. I’m well aware, just giving the OP an explanation on why this happens on a regular basis. Another option would be to enable Use Ultrasound when needed, ie when you have a need to connect with a video device.
