Webex Calling – Override or Bypass DND (Do Not Disturb) Feature

Hi ,

One of my customers has asked whether there’s a way in Webex Calling to allow a user (such as a receptionist) or an administrator to override or bypass the DND (Do Not Disturb) status set on a user’s phone.

In their previous telephony system, the receptionist had the ability to bypass DND in order to reach staff members when necessary, particularly in urgent situations. From what I understand, Webex Calling does not currently support a native override of DND once it’s enabled—whether from the Webex app, physical phone, or user portal.

While there is an option to disable DND sync between the Webex app and physical phones, which allows users to still receive incoming call notifications on their Webex app, this workaround is only effective if users are actively using the Webex app —which is not the case for this customer.

Is there any existing feature, workaround, or priority call option available in Webex Calling that allows calls to bypass or override DND in such scenarios?

Any insights or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

While it doesn’t directly address my use case, I noticed that Cisco has recently released some enhancements related to DND (Do Not Disturb), just mentioning it here in case others following this thread find it useful.

That said, I’m still looking for any guidance or possible workarounds regarding my original question on whether it's possible to override or bypass DND in Webex Calling, especially in scenarios where users are not using the Webex app.

Appreciate any insights—thanks in advance!

Override Do not Disturb(DND) for Webex Go

Webex Go allows users to provision a mobile number and designate a device as their primary number, which they often use for personal calls. It adheres to the user's Do Not Disturb (DND) policy settings for call notifications. When the user activates DND, Quiet Time Hours, or is sharing/presenting, call notifications are not sent to any of the user's devices, including the Webex Go device.

This feature provides an option to override the DND status specifically for the Webex Go mobile device. While the user's DND policy continues to control notifications on other devices, enabling the override ensures that calls are delivered to the Webex Go mobile device.

For details, see Manage Do Not Disturb (DND) Override in Control Hub and Configure Do Not Disturb (DND) override for Webex Go calls
