Cisco Webex Wireless Phone 800 Series - Native Phone App Login Prompt

I am trialing the Cisco Webex Wireless Phone 800 Series phones. I will be using these phones with extension mobility so there is no DN associated to the phone. As intended, if you are not logged in with extension mobility the phone will not be able to make/receive calls.

My Problem: When not logged in via extension mobility or if there is not a DN associated to the phone a login prompt appears every time the native phone app is opened. I need to find a way to disable the login prompt as it doesn't work with extension mobility credentials and is confusing users on where to login.  See photo for login prompt.

Does anyone know what this login prompt is for? ...or how to turn it off?

Hi,

Solution : A dedicated extension need to be assigned to this phone (Extension hardcode to this phone MAC address) on CUCM, after that the login prompt will not appear.

Why do you need extension mobility for a mobile device. Assign a dedicted DN, and I assume you won't see the login message.

This ruggedized wireless phone provides voice over WLAN when connecting to Unified Communication Manager, UCM. In addition, Webex apps are preloaded and allow users to connect for calling, messaging and meetings, for secure and reliable communications.

If a DN is assigned or you are logged in with extension mobility the login prompt does not appear on the phone. These wireless phones will be rotated between staff who login with extension mobility so they can receive and respond to nurse call alerts.  Unfortunately assigning a DN is not a good solution to my problem as it will waste DNs and cause confusion with users.

Configure a logout extensions mobility  profile. When no one use the device,  use logout profile to keep the phone registered.

That might be an option.... but we would like to keep the setup the same as our 7925/8821 wireless phones where a DN is not needed.

You wouldn't know what that login prompt is for do you?
