AP541-N Captive portal ?

Hi,

     I was reading a lot of previus discussions, but I still not understand if I can do it!

     I do know that "HTTP Redirect" can be used to send to external web site, but can I use it as Authentication ?

     If it is not possible, can I use this AP into some Controller ?

Hi Rodrigo, thank you for using our forum, my name is Luis I am part of the Small business Support community.

Unfortunately your AP541 does not support Captive Portal and the Small Business Products does not support any controller with this capability, however I could recommend you some products as WAP121 and WAP321, these devices supports Captive Portal.

I have already installed 10 AP541 in a cluster. And I think I`m going to need 4 cluster more in the future.

So I don`t really sure what to do about it.

You still recommend me change to  products like wap121 or wap321 ?

Hi Rodrigo, I will recommend this WAP´s due the Captive portal functionality that you are looking for, also these devices are able to connect between other WAP´s in clustering, but they are not able to connect in cluster with your AP541 devices. So depend of the usage that you will give it for them will work fine for your topology.

Hello,

     I also wanted to add that compared to the WAP121 and the WAP321 that only the WAP321 supports captive portal and not the WAP121 but they still cluster with each other though when running a certain firmware (not sure if they are all being released with a newer firmware that already has cluster option or not though). Links to the data sheet listed below if you want more information on these products. So if you were wanting to buy a AP for the captive portal then the WAP321 would be the way to go.
