I just purchased a WAP 321 and followed the setup wizard. Its powered by a poe switch. The issue I have is no clients can connect to it. I updated the firmware. I reset to factory and tried setting it up manually till no one can connect. I dont understand what im doing wrong here. Unless its a bad unit. If anyone has some ideas please it would be a big help. I will have about 10 to 15 clients connecting to it. Its the only ap in the building.

Hi Corey, do you see the SSID from a computer at all? Are you able to connect to the SSID but not receive an IP address from DHCP? What kind of switch are you connecting to? Is the switch managed or unmanaged? Did you power cycle the AP after configuration? The AP has a running config. If the AP reboots without saving the config to the start up config then all changes are lost.

Yes I can see the ssid from all the clients but no im not getting an ip from it. No I did not power cycle the ap after config. The switch is unmanaged. Also another thing only 2 devices can connect one ipad and one iphone. I made sure that I had the number of devices set to 20 to be safe. But still nothing. That is the only 2 devices that can connect for some reason. It keeps giving all my devices ip 169.254.20.127

Corey,
My name is Borislav and I am a part of the Small Business technical support. I would like to arrange a remote desktop in order to go through all settings on your access point. Please let me know when we can do that, my email is boatanas@cisco.com.

Hi Borislav,
is there any solution for this problem? I got the same problem. By the way ... everything works fine if I downgrade the firmware back to 1.0.2.3. I´d love to use the latest version 1.0.3.4 because I need the captive portal for iOS users and version 1.0.2.3 has a known bug with iOS6.
Can you tell me how to solve the "no connection" problem with 1.0.3.4?
Thanks in advance
Henry

As of right now I still have the problem. boatanas wants to log in remotely but I have a family emergency and cant set it up right now. But yes im still having the issue. The thing is I had the problem out the box, so i updated the firmware and still I have the same problem. If you or anyone else finds a solution please put it on here. I will be out the office for about 2 weeks.

Hi Corey,
thanks for your reply. Family first! I hope everything turns out to be okay for you.

Henry,
In order to tell more I need to go through the settings of your WAP321. It can be a channels issue, it can be a wireless security issue and again - it can be something in your particular environment. This is why I always propose a remote desktop session.
If you're up to it, please send me en email and we'll arrange it.

Hi Borislav,
thank you for your quick reply. A remote desktop session sounds great to me. I hope you dont get me wrong but you said it might be a wireless security issue, channels issue or something else. This gives me a little the impression that Cisco has no idea how to fix this problem yet. I find some other posts from users who seem to have the same or a similar problem with FW 1.0.3.4 if I Google it. I just would like to know what Cisco changed in the Firmware 1.0.3.4 because the same set up, the same config, same wireless channels and same WPA2 settings work without any problems (besides the known Apple iOS6 bug) after downgrading to Firmware version 1.0.2.3.
Please send me your email so we can get in touch for the remote desktop session.
Regards,
Henry

Heinrich,
I am just saying that there might be various reasons why clients may not be able to connect and this includes all access points, not just Cisco's. Anyways, I sent you my email address, please let me know when you'll be available for a webex session.

Ok this is what is going on with my setup. I'm not in a small business this is setup at my house. I do computer work out my house for right now untill I get an office. Wile I was out my wife returned the wap321 and got a replacement in the mail. Dont ask why she did it but she did. I guess she thought it was defective. So this is where im at. I just set up the new one. I ran the wizard it set up fine. Now again nothing can connect. My ipad connected fine for a min then loses the ip. Now the crazy thing is when I try to set a static ip it will not set. It keeps going back to 192.168.1.245. Also when I returned I ran new cable. I ran cat6 from my poe to the back of my house. I ran it into the closet of our bedroom. I tested all the connections and everything tested fine. So I started over. I started at my modem and router and did a reset. Updated firmware on my router it works fine. So I moved on to my poe switch. I unplugged my ip camera and reset the poe switch to factory then updated firmware. Once that was complete I updated the firmware on my poe switch. Connected my server back and connected the ipcamera back and they where working fine. Last I reconnected the wap321 then ran the wizard. Guess what, everything works fine now. I have all devices connecting fine. All computers work fine, iphone's, ipad, and macbook pro is working fine now. My nextdoor neighbor came over with his laptop and he connects fine. I have 2 other laptops here for some customers and they are connecting fine. So i'm thinking it had something to do with the poe switch. Once the firmware was updated it seemed to fix it. So that would be somethign to look into heinrich it worked for me.
