I know that the WAP551/561 has a small security issue with the guest network. I have a question about the WAP551 and the VLANs. Does the WAP551 require a managed switch, ASA and/or LAN controller to manage the VLANs by trunking the port and controlling the IP subnets as the AIRONET 1602i does? Or will this provide the two separate subnets on its own, similar to consumer product's "guest SSID"?

Jose,
The WAP551 has a trunk port and each SSID needs to be associated to a VLAN. It cannot provide two separate subnets on it's own like the consumer products.

Hello Jose,
The following two links may help you with configuring multiple SSID's with different VLANS and configure appropriate security settings.

Thank you. I order one and it will be here tomorrow. We had some issues with one at location but had two hours to install it so I am working with one this weekend at length. I was also told the AIRONET 1602i would do the same these do but have come to find out I need and ASA w Sec Plus or a LAN controller for it.
