Hi,
We've recently installed 3 1142N APs into our wireless network replacing 1242AGs. I put the same config as i would for the 1242AG
lwapp ap hostname Wireless AP1
!
lwapp ap ip address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx xxx.xxx.xxx.xx
!
lwapp ap ip default-gateway xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
!
lwapp ap controller ip address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
I also used the same IP's and APs names on the new APs.
The new APs haven't registered. I then thought that I should delete the 1242 APs out of NCS as maybe there's a conflict with using the same IP and Names but with the new APs having different MAC address.
I deleted those APs then shut down the ports the APs were connected to so as to give them a chance to re-register. But those APs haven't registered at all.
These are the first 1142Ns we've used is there any other configuration i need to do besides what i've done??
I would greatly appreciate any advise you may have.
Thanks
Anthony

Hi Anthony,
This is just a thought here, but wouldn't you need AIR-LAP1142N-E-K9 (E = ETSI) for Ireland? Instead
of AIR-LAP1142N-N-K9. Could be a Country Code config violation.
Cheers!
Rob

I agree with "Smooth" Rob here.
The output of your "sh version"/"sh inventory" and "sh sysinfo" has nailed the cause of your WAPs not joining your WLC. Your WLC and your WAPs do not have the same regulatory domain. Your WAP is for Austrlia and New Zealand (regulatory domain "N") while your WLC is configured for Europe (regulatory domain "E").
For more information about different country's regulatory domain, kindly refer to Wireless LAN Compliance Status (updated 30 March 2012).

Please post the output to the following commands:
1. WLC: sh sysinfo;
2. WAP: sh version;
3. WAP: sh inventory

Thanks Guys,
It does seem that we were sent the wrong APs by our supplier. Have just checked the records and we did order
AIR-LAP1142N-E-K9.
Time to get back to them and give them an ear full!
Thanks again very much appreciated.
Anthony
