I have one ssid set up on 1300ap. The ssid is not set to broadcast but is anyways. I have made sure the guest mode in ssid manager is set to none and have done the no guest-mode command in cli but it is still broadcasting. I know disabling broadcast is lame as far as security goes but it gives my boss a warm, fuzzy feeling to know it is not being broadcast. Any help is much appreciated.

Disabling the SSID broadcast will remove it from the beacon, but it is still part of the normal administrative overhead of the connection.
Anyone with a sniffer can see the SSID, it's always in clear text ... it may not be broadcast, but it is still part of the normal traffic flow.
You cannot completely eliminate the visibility of the SSID.
Good Luck

Hi Scott,
I have the same problem.
If I leave the SSID field in the Aironet Client Utility (ACU) blank and the "Broadcast SSID" (Guest Mode on the SSID) on the Cisco Aironet 1300 Series is uncheck, although I can connect to the Root Bridge without problems.
This is a bug.....
Have you an idea???
Many Thanx
Stephan
