1310 Bridges showing low dbm levels - on a desk!

Hi,

I've just logged a TAC case on this one, but has anybody seen lower than expected dbm levels when just testing 1310 bridges in a lab? I've got them a few feet apart connected to the injectors with the short white f type cables. They're running 12.3(2)JA2.

I'd expect to see in the -40's at this very short range, but the best I ever saw was -51 (it's mostly worse than -60). I don't want to put these outside without being sure they're ok.

What is the model of the 1310 Bridge you have. If you have a bridge ending with -R, this will require a external antenna. Otherwise you will find that the dbm levels to be very less than normal. The only solution for this is to get a external antenna.

With the external anternna the signal strength will be good.

It is possible that what your are seeing is receiver overload & distortion.

Try moving the units farther apart and make sure things like wireless phones, cell phones, Bluetooth devices, and other 802.11 devices are reasonably far away to prevent interference.

Also try other channels and re-orienting the units.

Good Luck

Scott
