1552 without WLC

Hi

is it possible to setup and use 1552 AP as a standalone AP, without WLC to act as a bridge between two locations and possible to serve the clients?

With 1142 (indoor) i can setup autonomouse mode, access 1142 AP over the http ad configure it without using WLC.

Can the same be done with 1552 without having to use WLC? Was able to setup static IP on 1552 but dont see the option to configure it further.

At this page https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-26765 I found this :

     Features Not Supported on vWLC

          Outdoor mesh access points (Outdoor AP with FlexConnect mode will work)

So I thought, AP would be able to download FlexConnect image!

But anyway. AP/PC/vWLC is on the same subnet. But it is impossible to ping AP. Other devices are not pingable from AP!

How this is possible? Is it normal for mesh APs?

Maybe it is impossible to use any commands even ping in MESH mode without active WLC connection?

I got some really valuable information from one guy. His name is Sam. Sam says:

"Autonomous code is indeed supported on the 1552 platform. Getting the  image onto the AP is somewhat tricky. Since there is no 'mode' button  to hold down to perform an image recovery with, you have two options:

1)  open up the unit and use the serial console to perform the image  upgrade from ROMMON (difficult, but can be done without a controller) or 

2) join the AP to a controller in mesh mode then use the 'config ap  tftp-downgrade' command at the WLC CLI (easy, but requires a  controller).
