2702 Access Point not joining 5508 Controller

Hello,

i Have 2702 access point not joining to 5508 controller. both access point and controller are on different VLAN.

Im using code 7.6.130.0 on controller.

I configured DHCP server based on below link using option 43 for APc2700.

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/wireless-mobility/wireless-lan-wlan/97066-dhcp-option-43-00.html

1 problem: Access point is getting multiple ips from DHCP.

2 problem: no joining to controller.

If the ap is cycling through IP addresses it cant find the WLC from the IP option 43 configured so tries a new IP to see if it gets better results.

Where is option 43 configured? Windows server? Switch ?

How is it configured?

AP is getting multiple ips even before configuring option 43 on DHCP server.

we are using Windows 2008 R2 for DHCP server. plz find attached files for config of option 43.

I have always used hex for the ip address as shown in this document:

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/wireless-mobility/wireless-lan-wlan/97066-dhcp-option-43-00.html#anc9

I prefer to also use DNS than option 43

cisco-capwap-controller.<localdomain> point this to your WLC management ip.

Makes sense its grabbing IP addresses before you add option 43 as it wont find the WLC so will keep renewing IPs.

Thats where we differ Scott, I prefer option 43 since homing aps to a WLC the other side of the world. Each has advantages but it will be an option 43 issue.

Peter,

My preference is really due to option 43 working properly or not, especially when you have to provide a doc to a customer and another team has to do the work.  I actually use ip forwarding in most cases since the network team is whom I work directly with.  Less hassle and quicker to get the AP's joined:)

Could you post the messages on the AP from CLI?. One question, do you have 1 DHCP Server or 2 servers as a cluster?
