2802 power inline command leave radios down

Version 8.3.133.0

2960S

AIR-AP2802I-E-K9

I'm trying to reclaim some power budget on a 2960S so that I can power more 2802I.

I've been using variations on the following:

power inline static max 26000

power inline auto max 26000

power inline consumption 26000

The net result is that the radio interfaces end in an "Oper Status" of DOWN.

How do I reduce the wattage output, reclaim some power budget, yet still have operational radios?

Help appreciated!

Cheers,

Mal.

I never statically set the power on ports that ap’s are connected to. In the end, your switch should accommodate all PoE devices you plan on connecting to that switch. You don’t want to “try” to add more if you really can’t budget all the power that is required.

Indeed, but I'm in this ridiculous situation where I have a 24-port 2960S with 215W of spare capacity, but because of the way the power is reserved, I only have access to 29W of that 215W. I just want access to that spare capacity, and not have it reserved for the class 4 power grabbing 26.1W 2802I.

Thank you for your input though! All is appreciated.

What if you set one port to auto inline power, what is the power drawn to that ap?

Remove the PoE commands off.
During the bootup, the AP will CORRECTLY negotiate the power to the correct value. NO need to prioritize the PoE draw.
