Hi Guys
we have converted capwap to autonomous with ios 15.3(3)JF and then configured it in very simple way to broadcast SSID and associate clients , we tested it and it worked fine. But after rebooting the AP some how the AP was not able to show in cdp neighbors command so erased the config and redone the same what was earlire there. I was able to see the same in cdp neighbors... after a day again AP got re-booted may be some one unplugged it and again we encountered same issue AP was not in show cdp ne of switch. note that since this is a remote site i m not able to get the console acces to AP next day as field engineer left. i have access to switch wherein its not reflecting cdp. so my point is what happened after reboot..as i have seen that once its reboots i need to reconfigure it and then problem resolves...but this should not be the case. is there any bug in 15.3(3)JF release ???? note its a autonomus AP after conversion connected to 2960+ POE switch even if i connect to any other switch i m not able to see in cdp neighbor and i m sure if i gets a console of that AP and reconfigures it erasing the startup config oit will be working fine but after reboot i will have same issue. i have tried to see if there is any issue with POE but not able to find anything in debug poe , moreover connected the same AP to diff switch where already i have AP's in CAPWAP/LWAPP mode. still it was not showing the CDP mode nor i am able to ping that AP from switch..... allso note that SSID configured are brodcasted for a while and switch shows port up and down after a while and this contnues on and on. ur suggestions are highly appreciated.

Hi Arun,
When you do a show power inline on the switch does it come up with a Cisco AP? If not, can you set the PoE power maxium e.g. power inline static max 20000 and see if it then shows a Cisco AP on the port?

Ah your switch can only provide 15400 (15.4W) of power and the 3702 requries around 16.8 to fully operate. Try setting power inline static max 15400 which will at least force it to come up.
The other thing to note is where it isn't registering the AP as a Cisco AP but only as IEEE PD
Fa0/13 auto on 15.4 Ieee PD 3 15.4
Hopefully after setting the max to 15400 it will come up with the correct CDP info. The 3702 won't operate at full capacity at this PoE level however so I recommend a local power source or injector is used.. or you could upgrade your switch which would be more costly A second point is it is plugged into a FastEthernet port which limits the throughput to 100mbit.

Hmm a tough one! Are you running the same software version on the SAP3702 that is working? The reason I initially went straight to PoE after reading your description is due to experiencing a similar bug on deployments and setting a static power rectified it. I have a few further suggestions:
1) By the AP command line, try playing around with the PoE commands e.g:
power inline negotiation prestandard
no power inline injector override
2) Change the software on your switch - what version are you currently running?
3) Try a different AP software version. As your originally suggested it could be a bug.

Try using a power injector. The switch may not have enough power for the AP. Turn off the POE on that port or the AP will default to the switch POE and not work.
Cheers.
