3850 switch and WSSI module

Does anyone know if the WSSI modules will work when plugged into a 3850 switch that is acting as a WLC? I looked into this a couple of years ago and was told that the WSSI modules would not work with any of the IOS based WLCs. I was wondering if Cisco has resolved that issue yet. Thanks Jack

Depends on the firmware the appliance is running on.  Converge Access (CA) is not supported on 16.3.X (and later).

Otherwise, I'd recommend avoiding using the 3650/3850 as a controller because the pain and suffering just isn't worth it.

Cisco has killed Converged Access Technology (ie 3850 acting as WLC). I do not think any development on those features

The more and more research I do on these switches, the consensus is overwhelmingly to stay away from using these switches as wireless controllers.  I was looking into using these as controllers at smaller sites we have to save a little money but it looks like this is a bad idea.

Thanks for your reply,  very helpful
