Hi all,
because of the new models of C9120 access points we have to use version 8.10.181.0
We've tried with Chrome Version 105.0.5195.127, Firefox 105.0.2 and Edge 105.0.1343.42 but the GUI on the WLC 5520 is unusable. WLANs cannot be edited any more and show blank pages. Also FlexConnect Groups are affected. Sometimes it works but most of the time the GUI shows only a blank page and we need to massively reload the page to get it work.
Does anybode experience the same issues?
Kind regards
Oliver

Just installed the escalation release 8.10.181.3 and the GUI issues are gone. At least with Firefox 105.0.2
Kind regards

Hello BB,
Thank you for pointing me to bug ID CSCvp80151. According to Cisco this is a Google Chrome Bug. Therefore the GUI should work with Firefox and IE11. Sadly but true it's not working - neither with Firefox nor with IE11. I'll try the solution with the certificate from CSCvp80151 and respond here.
Kind regards
Oliver

the AireOS wlcs have had this issue for years. One of the reasons I learnt how to do everything via the CLI

Do you have any 2800/3800 connected to this WLC (8.10.181.0)?

Hello Leo,
no - right at the moment we only have C9120AXI and C9120AXE models connected.

Firefox 68.12.0esr works reliably for us.

Hello Rich,
Firefox V68 is from 2019. Due to security and company certifications issues we are forced to use the newest version. I'm sorry but Firefox V68 is not an alternative for us.
Kind regards
Oliver

Understood Oliver but you have to use what is operationally necessary to do your job properly.
If your org is that security aware then you should only be accessing the WLCs from a secure jump server with no internet access and only by authorised admins which largely mitigates any risks due to using an outdated browser and you raise an appropriate entry for it on your risk register with whatever exemption or waiver you have to get.
As others have pointed out http access will likely also work but that is also insecure because username/passwords will get sent in the clear so a mature, adult, informed discussion with your security team about which is the lesser evil may be necessary. Given that choice they may prefer an older browser version. If you insist on only using the latest browser you're going keep encountering these problems repeatedly. Remember AireOS is approaching end of life now so Cisco will not be putting much, if any, time into fixing this type of problem.
Of course your other option is to do everything on CLI over SSH. Apart from making sure client and server support the same ciphers and hashes you have no more of those display issues and it's secure.

Interesting| According to the release note and the bug tool the only fixes in that escalation image are CSCwd37092 and CSCwc78435
So maybe just sheer coincidence ...
