Hi,

about 802.1X protocol I've read " The authentication server may use the Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service (Radius server) although 802.1X does not specify it."

Is it possible authenticate the supplier without using an external Radius Server?

If it was possible, how to do on a cisco switch?

It's possible, but the functionality is not currently there.

You might want to check out RFC 3580.

It's really an inducstry trend toward RADIUS, although RADIUS is not absolutely necessary.
