867 wireless - missing wlan-ap0 interface

pjiracek

Level 1

Hi there,

I have a router 867vae-w-e-k9 which is supposed to include the embedded AP but the interface wlan-ap0 is missing and in CLI service-module wlan-ap0 command is not recognised, so I cannot set up the wireless. The interface Wlan-GigabitEthernet0 is listed. Any ideas?

Thanks

Can you post the output to the command "sh run | i unified"?

There is no output. No "unified" in the running-config

Ok, post the complete output to the command "sh invent".

sh invent
NAME: "C867VAE-W-E-K9", DESCR: "C867VAE-W-E-K9 chassis, Hw Serial#: GMK18160096, Hw Revision: 1.0"
PID: C867VAE-W-E-K9    , VID: V01 , SN: GMK18160096

Ok, that's weird.

Can you reboot the router and post the entire bootup process?

Hi Leo,

Thanks for your help. I cannot reboot the router at the moment since it's in production and also at remote site.

Are you thinking of a hardware issue?

Yes.  I am suspecting it's a hardware issue.

I managed to get the boot output:

C860VAEW advanced k9 platform with 512 MB of main memory

Readonly ROMMON initialized

... Building directory. Operation may take a while. Hitting Control+C during operation will require router reset.

WTF.  Can you please post the complete output to the command "sh version"?

I bypassed the startup-config when I rebooted the router.

Can you try using an "M" train IOS?

And can you post the output to the command "dir"?

I'm not able to get an M train IOS now. Here is the flash content:

H0ly sh1t, Batman!

That's one @#$%^&*!!-load of crashinfo files!  And you're or someone is OK with that????

I'd upgrade/downgrade your IOS from a "T" train to an "M" train and see if that stabilizes the appliance.

Yes, the router crashes after every reboot but when the config is bypassed and then loaded all works OK. I'll try to install an M train IOS and see. Thanks for your help.
