So I returned from vacation to an AP on my desk. Apparently, someone tried changing this into a standalone wap for some testing and things turned out very badly. When I putty into it, all I see is scrolling text
***Board is not initialized properly*** followed by "Uncorrectable ECC Error: intr 0x50, addr=0x0, blk=0" with different address all the way down. I assume this thing is toast, am I correct? We bought a few of these to demo early on before incorporating them into our environment prior to bulk ordering, so it does not have smartnet.

Time for raise a TAC case for RMA ( if you do not have smartnet, then maybe faulty (bin it).
If you want to investigate try Factory reset one more time see any Luck.

APs have Limited Lifetime Hardware Warranty on them.
Do you have a WLC with a valid Service Contract? If you do, raise a RMA TAC Case using the WLC serial number and explicitly tell TAC that you are RMA-ing the AP (provide the AP serial number).
