On the older WLCs (pre-9800), if you had an AP with multiple external antenna connections you could choose to disable some to match a particular antenna setup. e.g. in a lift previously I have installed an AIR-AP3802E-E-K9 AP on the lift car, disabled antennae B, C, and D and run a co-ax from antenna A to a small dipole inside the lift car to get enough coverage in it which worked fine.
Is that same configuration possible with a 9800 controller and C9115AXE-E APs?

Have you reviewed the install and setup guides @jeustace ?

That's useful info thanks. Looks like I may have to connect a minimum of two.

Agreed it looks like you need to use at least 2.

why you need to disable antenna ports?

I'm only connecting one antenna. In my experience, single stream transmissions are sent through the four radios on a round robin basis so you have to disable any RP-TNCs which don't have an antenna connected.
