Access point throughput vs bridge throughput

I am told that the maximum throughput on a 11mbs 802.11b connection is somewhere between 5 and 7 Mbs!

Is this true and does it also apply to point to point bridge links?

I think that the maximum you are referring to is the tested throughput seen on various 802.11b equipment. With the bridge links the main difference in throughput seem to be distance and obstacles as far as I've seen. I've tested the throughput in my office using the bridge gear under near perfect conditions and I don't recall getting much better the 6-7 mb throughput. If you need more you may need to consider going with a laser solution but that will be plenty more $$$.
