Access to firmware for Cisco AP for 'non company' individual

Hi, apologies in advance if this is completely the wrong place for my question, but haven't had much luck on the main Cisco website, customer support pages.

I have 2 wireless access points I'd like to reconfigure. They are both in lightweight mode and I'd like to set them up for autonomous.

My problem is that I am NOT a company and cannot seem to get through to customer services to see if Cisco offers some form of account for individuals. Consequently, I haven't been able to download the files required for the APs. APs are refurbished, bought on Amazon.

Does Cisco offer any support of this type to individuals or am I barking up completely the wrong tree? If so, is there any other means of obtaining the necessary files? On googling for the files, all links lead to Cisco.

All help gratefully received. TJD

if you know the model of the AP and if you know the image name, google can help you.

or asking local cisco partner to download.

On googling for the files, all links lead to Cisco.

yes all point to cisco site, once you know the image name search with that name you get plenty download (but its all your risk)

How to Ask The Cisco Community for Help

Hi, thank you for the prompt reply.
Unfortunately I am not able to download the files from Cisco, because I
can’t create the right sort of account. When I’ve tried, they ask for a
company name which I don’t have. Nor am I able to get a ‘Cisco Partner’
Also, when I’ve tried to speak to customer services, again because I’m not
a company, I get cut off on the chat box.
Do I need to ‘invent’ a company name, just to get dialogue with customer
services??

if you know the model of the AP and if you know the image name, google can help you

@Leo Laohoo suggested name - googling is free.

That is incorrect.

A lot of IOS files are being hosted outside of Cisco.  What is the filename in question?

I have 2 slightly different Access Points.
One is a 3600 series AP, the other is a 2600 series AP. The firmware listed
below works for both.

ap3g2-k9w7-tar.152-4.JA1.tar

ap3g2-rcvk9w8-tar.152-4.JA1.tar

2600/3600 & 2700/3700 use the same IOS file.

The RCV file is CAPWAP recovery IOS and it is of no use if the APs are going to be in autonomous.

Thank you for the comments.

Where do I get the files?
I’ve written previously that all links lead to Cisco and as an individual,
I can’t create an account.
Some have said I can get them elsewhere. Where? Or failing that, can
someone help me with creating an account?
As mentioned, Cisco don’t seem to have a facility for working with the
public/individuals. I have been unable to set up a ‘Cisco Partner’

Google the following:

ap3g2-k9w7-tar

See where it takes you.

That is all I am responding with.

Thanks

Also note that all autonomous APs are now end of support so you can no longer get support for them from Cisco.
