Hi all,

We have a scenario, we have cisco 2504 wireless controller in our network with 75 access point. Now we want to add more Access Point for that we have to add wireless controller but now question is how?

How access points will be added to wireless controller because there will be two separate  wireless controller. whether i have to install 2nd wireless controller in different VLAN,  But in-case of inter-vlan communication both those access point can interact with  first WLC or vise virsa.

we want to keep both controller separate so and AP connected to 2nd controller will not able to connect with 1st wireless controller and vise virsa.

Any one have idea how i can add another wireless controller?

Regards

Zohaib

Just configure a new WLC..as you did for old WLC.

Connect new AP to switch-port with correct VLAN assigned to it.

You must define a way for AP to join WLC: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/wireless-mobility/wireless-lan-wlan/70333-lap-registration.html

*** If AP and WLC are in same VLAN then it will use L3 broadcast.

This is simple. No need to over think this process.

Bring up the new WLC on the same vlan(s) used for your existing controller. In other words ..

Controller 1

Management Vlan 10   - ip address 10.10.10.10

Data vlan 20 - ip address 10.10.20.10

Voice vlan 30 - ip address 10.10.30.10

Controller 2 (new controller)

Management Vlan 10   - ip address 10.10.10.11

Data vlan 20 - ip address 10.10.20.11

Voice vlan 30 - ip address 10.10.30.11

Just make sure the dynamic interface ip addresses on the WLCs are different, BUT in the same VLAN

Then make sure you have mobility tunnels built between both controllers, assuming users will roam between controllers

You can copy the config from the existing 2504 - change in note pad or load on new 2504 offline and change IP address ..

Hope this helps bud
