AIR-CAP3602I-A-K9 and AIR-CAP3702I-A-K9 non-compliant to FCC regulations

Not applicable

Recently we have been requesting RMA from Cisco for AIR-CAP3602I-A-K9 and AIR-CAP3702I-A-K9 using SORT.

We are unable to log the RMA due to the following message:

Please note that due to US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations, the part you are requesting is considered non-compliant, and is not approved to be shipped within the United States. This Temporary Service Order will be placed on Hold as soon as you submit the order. A representative from the Cisco Logistics Support Center will contact you to provide you with an approved alternate part, or to recommend other options on how to proceed with your request.

The RMA gets delayed as Cisco needs an approval (I am guessing form the FCC) to ship the part, which eventually does get shipped using the requested part number.

I could not find any document that explains the reason as to why these parts no longer FCC compliant.

Thanks.

Due to recent 5G Channel and Power spec changes, the USA is now domain B.

All domain A equipment is still functional and valid, just fewer channels and lower power.

I suggest you open a TAC case for the return.  Manual override might be necessary to replace your A units with more..  or even B units.

Thanks Dave, I had read about the US now being domain B, just did not realized that this was teh issue here.

It is interesting that once the RMA is approved, Cisco still ships a -A unit, not a -B unit.

Would you know if a AIR-CAP3702I-B-K9 can be a direct replacement for a AIR-CAP3702I-A-K9 without any changes to the customer's network or wireless devices?

Appreciated that you took the time to answer.

There be no noticeable difference to the client.  I have a mixed bag in my environment also.  The downside is that the -B's might make your code base on the WLC as old code will reject the -B AP.
