Once you have received it, upgrade to 8.5.140.0 or 8.8.111.0.

Yes they are.

The 3504 requires a minimum of 8.5.x code, the 2700 series APs will support this and currently all released WLC code sets.

Yes, 3504 will support 2702.
I recommend loading the WLC with latest 8.5 code when running AP2700/3700.
