It keeps saying %CAPWAP-5-DHCP_RENEW: Could not discover WLC using DHCP IP
. Renewing DHCP IP. then nothing happens. I want to turn device defaults and i dont know how.
I'm using Hyperterminal to access my device.

Autonomous: Standalone AP (Work alone)
Lightweight AP: Only work with Cisco Wireless LAN Controller
AIR-LAP1042N-E-K9 %CAPWAP-5-DHCP_RENEW
This error means, you have a Lightweight AP.
To use it without Controller, you must need to change it to Autonomous
How to convert Lightweight to Autonomous:
1.fllow the procedue on this post.
https://rscciew.wordpress.com/2014/05/07/access-point-conversion-lap-to-aap-and-vice-versa/
After conversion you just need to configure it:

I understand what to do but i cant find the image file in the site it says end of sale end of life for my device.
Thank you for your help

To do the conversion you need an autonomous image like
c1140-k9w7-tar.153-3.JBB.tar
The images for the 1040s and 1140s are all called the same and they are available for download on the Cisco page. Just look on the support tab > Download search and look for 1040 Series Access Point and select the autonomous version. I an seeing the page while I type this and it is available for download.
If you have problems with the download and if the device is under contract or warranty, you can open a TAC case and we will provide the image to you. We can even help you out with the conversion if we need to.
Best regards,
Marco Gonzalez

AP2c54.2d19.09eb#debug capwap console cli
Debug already enabled
AP2c54.2d19.09eb#config t
Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.
AP2c54.2d19.09eb(config)#int fa 0

% Invalid input detected at '^' marker.
I used ? for see what code can i use and this showed up
AP2c54.2d19.09eb(config)#int ?

Hi,
Don't keep the space between IP and image name on this command:
archive download-sw /force-reload /overwrite tftp://10.0.0.1/c1140-k9w7-tar.153-3.JB.tar
