Hello,

I have the problem that the AP1130 can not join to WLC2504.

The system detects an invalid regulatory domain 802.11bg:-E     802.11a:-E for AP 00:3a:99:02:e8:10

Here is the problem.

Your country configured is Germany (which is in -E regulatory domain) while your AP is AIR-AP1131AG-A-K9 (which is in -A regulatory domain).

You either need to add a -A country to the WLC configuraiton (America for example) or replace the AP with part number AIR-AP1131AG-E-K9.

For which countries have which regulatory domains check this link:

Hello,

What is your WLC version? you surely have correct configuration (ip, mask and default gateway) for both management and ap manager interfaces?

It seems you have some fragments lost. Can you describe your topology? how many ports are connected to the wireless controller?

Issue those debug command on WLC CLI while the AP is trying to join:

- debug mac addr

- debug capwap events enable

- debug capwap errors enable

For now it appears to be a cable or congestion issue. packets are getting lost and not all fragments reach the WLC/AP. You need to make sure that the cables used are good and the in-between devices are capable of taking the AP/WLC traffic.

Hello,

WLC Version is 7.2.110.0

The Configuration is correct. I have two AIR-LAp1024 in the same Network and same WLC and the works correct.

Topology:

AP Vlan 10 Tagged <-> Switch with Vlan 10 <-> WLC Vlan 10 Tagged Port 1

The cable I will control the same...

see this in the console output:

., 1)14 09:35:14.199: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: Retransmission count for packet exceeded max(UNKNOWN_MESSAGE_TYPE (5)

*Aug 14 09:35:14.199: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: GOING BACK TO DISCOVER MODE

The packets got dropped somewhere. Check your cables. This could probably be the issue. Try changing the AP port as well.

BTW, you need to collect the debug commands to see how things go from WLC perspective.

Can you please post the following command outputs:

1.  WAP:  sh inventory

2.  WAP:  sh version

3.  WLC:  sh sysinfo

Hi,

Things to check when an AP is not able to join the WLC:

1. Make sure that the CAPWAP ports or LWAPP ports are not being blocked between the WLC and the APs if they are remote to the WLC.

2. Check that the WLC has the correct time.

3. Check that the regulatroy domain of the AP is enable on the WLC.

4. make sure there is no latency issues between the WLC netowrk and the AP network.

As mention before get access to the console port of the AP and use the commands:

Issue those debug command on WLC CLI while the AP is trying to join:

- debug mac addr

- debug capwap events enable

- debug capwap errors enable

Also get the output of the:

1.  WAP:  sh inventory

2.  WAP:  sh version

3.  WLC:  sh sysinfo

I see in the log from the controller :

I agree with Amjad.

Your WLC is configured for Germany (regulatory domain of "E") and your WAP is for the Americas (regulatory domain "A").

This is the reason why the WAP refuses to join the WLC.

That was the problem. Now it works!

Thanks!

Hello,

The problem is known. I have now the same problem.

How have you changed the Access Point from US to Germany?

Thx.

best wishes,

Norbert

Hi Nobert,

It will be good if you create a new thread and put the complete information there.

*** You can change the regulatory domain of AP.

I thought, it is only a link and there is the same issue and so I added my thing here.

Sorry and THANKS.
