Aironet 1200 continually rebooting

I have a problem with my Aironet 1200 access points constantly rebooting. The basic network set-up is that the WAPs are connected to a 2950 switch which in turn is connected to a 4006 via 1000Base-T GBICs. Power is provided over UTP by a PowerDsine 6006. I know the WAPs and the power supply are basically fine because I’ve tried them on a different network and they worked fine. If I isolate the 2950 by unplugging the GBIC then the WAPs are fine, therefore it must be something to do with the rest of the network be it GBICs, 4006 switch or other switches attached to the 4006. I’ve not had an opportunity to try the WAPs connected directly to the 4006 with no GBICs because it will mean taking down too much of the network, however I do have an chance to do this soon.

Has anybody experienced something similar or does anybody have any suggestions.

Thanks.

May be you should try meddling with the WAP.

I have experienced this same problem. I have determined power is not the issue and could be an IOS bug

I had this problem, and opened a TAC case. Below is the information from my case. I upgraded to the latest version of IOS, problem solved. Hope this helps.

Regarding your concern, after double-checking the information you attached, there is a known issue.

CSCsa42723 AP1230 running 12.3(2)JA crash at snmp_pdu_dispatcher

AP1230 running 12.3(2)JA sometimes reloads during this time, the AP loses IP connectivity to directly connected switch such as CAT3550, the switch will not see the AP in 'sh cdp neighbor' output, and the wireless clients cannot associate to the AP.

Workaround :

This problem occurs when AP receives traps. Crash can be avoided if AP is prevented from receiving traps, by configuring access-list denying UDP packets on port number 162.
