Aironet 1200 LWAPP upgrade question

Is it possible to upgrade the Aironet 1200 series APs to the LWAPP firmware (c1200-rcvk9w8-tar.123-7.JX), WITHOUT a WLAN controller connected ?

I have tried this and the hash key is not generated in the AP config file, this file is needed to add the AP to the controller. Is there a manual method of getting this done ?

You must have a controller to perform the upgrade.

Upgrading Autonomous Cisco Aironet Access Points to Lightweight Mode

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/hw/wireless/ps430/prod_technical_reference09186a00804fc3dc.html#wp157130

"No lightweight access point can operate independently from a WLC. Each lightweight access point must discover a WLC, issue an LWAPP join request, and if successful, receive a join response to become joined to a controller."

Thanks for the response.

I used the upgrade tool in a local setup, the LWAPP recovery image is in the AP.

Then connected it to a WLAN controller 4400, it is not joining. You have to apply the Apconfig file containing the hash key to the controller, but this file is generated without a has key present in the file.

Hello

Once the AP has been upgraded from Autonomous to Lightweight Mode, the AP Cisco IOS Software continues to run on the access point. Does any one know if the AP gain the ability to work as Autonomous or Lightweight one at time?

Thanks and best regards
