Dears,
I have cisco 5500 series WLC, and I want to add multiple cisco 1140 APs to it.
Unfortunately, I can't find the latest compatible firmware to upgrade C1140 AP to lightweight mode, could you please support?
This is the current version I have "Version 12.4(23c)JA6"
Product/Model Number : AIR-AP1141N-E-K9
show flash: "c1140-k9w7-mx.124-21a.JA1"
I tried to follow the link below, which was provided in a similar case in the past, but was no luck.
Appreciate your usual support.

No , not possible at all , that version is already to new for those access points ,
>And the only way to use them is to have them operate as a stand-alone entity
The best way is to consider buying more modern and recent access points : https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/wireless/access-point-controller-selector.html

- Last (and ending) controller release for 1140 series is 8.3.150.0 , checkout https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/compatibility/matrix/compatibility-matrix.html
the AP model itself is way end of life and support , software downloads are no longer available

Hello Marce,
Your response means a lot. Thx
In fact, I have several brand new APs 1140 series which have not even been taken out of their boxes. So, according to your answer, this means there is no way to have them assigned to 5500WLC of 8.10.171.0. And the only way to use them is to have them operate as a stand-alone entity. Is that what's going on?

Good find for brand new 1140. They were built with good radio components in them and they will last a few more years than the current 2700/3700 APs.
The last firmware to support 1140 is 8.3.X.X.
I can guarantee when the APs are powered up, they will not join the WLC because of FN - 63942 - Wireless Lightweight Access Points and WLAN Controllers Fail to Create CAPWAP Connections Due to Certificate Expiration.
Be mindful to perform the workaround and the APs will eventually join and download the firmware from the WLC.

I think @Leo Laohoo meant to say "guarantee they will NOT join" because of the expired certs.
Also as @marce1000 pointed out they cannot be used with 8.10 code only with WLC running 8.3 or earlier.
