I'm with a non-profit organization, I took on the task of revamping this network. Networking is not my strongest skills, but figured I could do it.
Currently there's a modem connecting to the wireless router (transmits 2.4/5ghz). There's also a second modem that is for telephones that also connects to the switch. This switch connects hardwired to some computers. I wouldn't mind turning this router WiFi once I get the AP's working.
I ordered:
- Switch (Cisco SG200 50 port)
- 7 AP's 1850 Aironets w/ Mobility Express.
The configuration that I'm trying for is.
Modem -> Wireless Router -> Switch -> Accesspoint
I'm trying to setup a test AP on the current network, but unsure how I would go about doing that. I was able to setup the AP along side the current one (AP is wired from the switch) but there there's no internet access when trying to connect from a computer on that AP (but on my cell it works even when isolated with data off).
Currently the router connects to 192.168.1.1. When I connect to the AP, It's not letting me even when I set the management IP to a different one (192.168.128.212).
I assume I would need to change the Management Address/Subnet Mask/ Default gateway to match my router?
Any advice would be helpful.
Thanks
