Any tools to monitor DHCP pool utilization on WLC

Hey Everyone, 

 

I'm hoping someone has found a cool way of doing this, I have a number of WLC placed around the country and we offer a free BOYD solution to our staff and guests. I have had it on a number of occasions that I run out of IP addresses and am only aware of this if a user complains.

The only place I can actually find the pool usage is but running the "show dhcp detailed scope name" on the actual 5508 controller.

I want to setup a NOC sort of environment where I can have all my DHCP scopes up on a screen and be alerted when the scopes start getting to high. 

So I'm hoping someone out there has found a way of doing this

Why don't you run the DHCP on a dedicated machine?  

 

I mean, if budget is an issue then one can get a Raspberry Pi or Beagle Bone and run Linux distro which can optionally run DHCP daemon.  

 

Enable 1 hour DHCP lease time will reduce chances of running out of IP addresses.

We are in the process of migrating all the BYOD connections to our anchor controllers so this will bring everything to a central location. We will still be sitting of running DHCP on the controller or getting a dedicated DHCP server. 

I would still like to find out if there is a way of monitoring and trending the scope usage on the 5508 wireless lan controllers.

Yes.  It's possible with SNMP.
