i'm testing a vWLC running 8.10.121.0 with an AP3802e.
The AP has been statically configured with an IP address for both itself and to point to the wireless controller. Does anyone have any ideas as to what could cause this? Thanks.

Reset your 3802 by holding down the reset button ~20s when it is powering. Then try it again.
As long as AP learns about vWLC as a controller it should go & register.

Did the AP ever joined a 9800 before?

- Issue show logging on the controller too , just after the join failure; check if you can get any additional info from that output.

I ended up ditching the vWLC 8.10.121.0 and spun up a Catalyst 9800 vWLC in the lab. My 3802 joined it with no problems at all. I'm actually going to be getting a 9120 AP here soon. Thanks for all your efforts. Much appreciated.
