AP C9124AXE-ROW Operation Status Down

Hi

We registered some new APs of model C9124AXE-ROW with our existing controller.
All new APs admin status is up but operational status is down, WLC version is 17.6.4.
All APs are in local mode, WLC is configured with only one country code QA, APs are powered up with DC power adapter AIR-PWRADPT-RGD2=, APs power Type/mode status is DC/Full power.

AP radio interface regulatory domain showing Unknown, anyone have any idea why AP regulatory domain is unknown and APs operation status is down or any workaround for this issue.

Thanks

Have you configured Country code to the AP via AP Join profile?

Ref: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/wireless/catalyst-9800-series-wireless-controllers/217734-connect-and-join-a-row-domain-access-po.html

You can verify the state of the AP country provisioning on the AP CLI with "Show controllers dot11Radio 1", it displays the -ROW domain and the country to which the AP is assigned if any :

show cont dot11Radio 1
Dot11Radio1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 4C:A6:4D:22:2F:C0
BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:2699
RX bytes:0 (0.0 B) TX bytes:0 (0.0 B)

Radio Info Summary:
=======================
Radio: 5.0GHz
Carrier Set: (-RW) Argentina ( AR)

List of possible config mismatches:

  • If no country is not configured in the AP join profile, the AP is in config mismatched state
  • If the country configured in the AP join profile is not enabled in the global country list, the AP is in config mismatch state
  • If the country is configured in the AP join profile and the global country list but the country is not part of the -ROW domain in that software version, the AP is in config mismatched state
  • If the country is configured in the AP join profile and global country list and it is a country part of the -ROW domain, the AP gets properly provisioned

Yes, AP join profile is configured with proper country code and country is enabled in global country list.
APs are getting country from AP join profile, country is part of the -ROW domain. APs are not showing any config mismatch but both the radios are down

  - Reboot the AP and scrutinize the boot process through  a console ; watch for errors , it the AP is remote connected , connect to it just after boot and issue the command show logging ; (look for errors , if any)

Have a checkup  of the 9800 controller configuration with the CLI command show tech wireless ; feed the output into :
                                    https://cway.cisco.com/wireless-config-analyzer/

                                  - If problems persist , upgrade to 17.9.4 and try again ,

Hi, I was facing the same issue, upgrading to 17.9.4 resolved the issue for me.

Radios operation status is up after changing country code QA to GB but still interface regulatory domain showing Unknown. We are plaining to upgrade WLC version, will update status after WLC upgrade.
