AP does not have the 802.11bg radio

I'm reaching out to see if anyone has encountered this issue.

When issuing the show ap auto-rf 802.11b apname01 CLI command, the message in the subject is returned.  This only occurs on 2802i and e APs in this customers deployment.  All other AP models in their deployment return details as expected.  Oddly, on these same 2802 Aps, issuing show ap auto-rf 802.11a apname01 returns normal output.  The issue only appears to be present on the 2.4 radio.

At first I suspected the use of a 3rd-party external antenna type on the E models, but I am seeing the same output on I model as well, which rules that out.  It is specific to 2802 only.

Code version is 8.3.143.0, Model is 5508

Appreciate any thoughts on this.

Anthony

Hi Anthony,

The 2802 (and 3802) APs have dual-band (or XOR as it is technically called) radios, which through the use of Flexible Radio Assignment, can convert the 2.4GHz radio to a macro 5 GHz cell. For these APs, the show ap auto-rf 802.11a command will return AP does not have the 802.11bg radio. when issued against a 2802/3802 AP. Instead, simply use show ap auto-rf 802.11-abgn <APName> which will show the state of the radio, regardless of whether it runs in 2.4G or 5G mode. In the output below, the AP is running the default mode of 2.4G.

So this happening to ALL APs?  Please post the complete output to the following commands:

1.  WLC:  sh sysinfo; and

2.  AP:  sh version

Mark,

Thank you.  That is what I was looking for.  I was thrown by the fact that the cmd worked for the 8 radio and so I expected it would as well for the 2.4, but that makes sense they have a new one for the XOR.

 Thanks again.

Anthony
