Hi Everyone,

On WLC we have management interface which is on 10.x subnet.it is used for ssh to box.

Also we have AP manager interface on different subnet.

Need to know what is purpose of having different subnet  IP assigned to AP manager interface?

does all user traffic flows from AP to WLC  via AP manager interface?

Regards

MAhesh

HI Mahesh.

Well it's dependens what kind of WLC you have, if you're working with  5508 or 2504, you don't need an AP manager interface.

You can use the manager interface for Wlan clients, but it's not the best options. For me one best practice is separated the management trafic from clients traffic.

AP Management Interface is used only for the first generation of WLC like the 440X, 2000 and 2100.  Nowadays, you don't need AP Manager Interface.

AP Manager Interface was then used as a method for the AP to communicate with the WLC.
