I just setup a new lan controller and registered some AP's successfully, however the AP's are not broading the SSID's and I noticed that their operational state is down.
Why is it down and I do I bring them back up?
From the controller I can see the AP's are all enabled.
Pls help

Hi Ronni,
There could be a number of reasons why it is currently in the DOWN state for 'Operational State':
- Is the radio for that AP(802.11a or 802.11bg) Administratively disabled? If so you will have to manually enable again through Wireless > Access Points > 802.11a or 802.11bg > Hover over small blue box far right > Configure
- Is the network disabled for that specific band? You can check the network under wireless > 802.11a/n or 802.11b/g/n > Network. Make sure the checkbox is checked for network status.
If it is not one of these two issues, then we will need more information on the controller model/software in addition to the access points model you are trying to join to give us a better understanding of the hardware involved.
Cheers,
Erwin

i have the same problem on this please help me.

I have this same issue. However I cannot find where you enable the radios or 802.11a & b. I am using the Virtual Wireless Controller version 8.10.122. The APs are 3702E-B-K9. My only issue is their operational status is down and the radios are showing from their respective cli's as administratively down which tells me I need to perform the equivalent of a no shut on them but cannot find that setting in the WLC. I tried following your past instructions -> Wireless -> Radios -> 802.11a/n/ac/ax -> hover over blue box -> configure , problem is I dont see anything in the configuration screen to enable radios.

Hi @Erik Kaiser
I think can be a country code mistmatch, which country code are you using in your WLC, USA?
08-06-2020 09:17 AM
01-31-2022 12:11 AM
Also check you have the correct POE. My injector was only providing 15w. Moved to switch POE and the Wireless interfaces came up.
09-17-2022 09:54 AM
I had this problem too and the cause was that my PoE switch did not provide enough power to turn the radios on. I had to use the proper injector.
11-03-2022 08:44 PM
Make sure cdp is enabled on the switchport connecting to AP for correct power allocation. If AP's do not get enough power the Radios will not be operational
After device detection, the switch will determine the power requirements based on power classification class.
Depending on the available power in the power budget, the switch determines if a port can be powered. The
switch initially allocates this power when it detects and powers the device. Power negotiation using CDP/LLDP
protocols happens thereafter
# sh power inline --- On the switch connecting to AP will give current per port power allocation
Also on the WLC you can see how much power is being taken by the AP. It should say Full Power under PoE status
