Hi
are there any AP models which support 5500 series and dont support 4400 series.
Actually we are looking to get some new AP with higher bandwidth and External Antenna
How to differentiate between AP models with clean air feature supported and not
Thanks

Currently the only AP that is not supported o. The 440x is the 3600, but that us a software limitation but a hardware limitation. The 3600 requires 7.2 and the 540x can't run that.

As of the present, the only WAP that will work with the 5508/2504 is the 3600.
CORRECTION: What I meant to say is that the 3600 will ONLY work with the WLC 2504/5508. The 3600 will NOT work with the WLC 2000/2100/4400 due to hardware limitation (CPU power and memory).

Hi,
As mention before the only AP not supported by the 4400 but supported by the 5500 is the 3600.
Also depending on the code version the WLC has it will support some APs and some not.

It is wise to use 5500 which will support future APs that comes with new 802.11ac + clean-air.
Clean-air support comes with embedded cleanair chip on AP, Currently only 3500 & 3600 has clean air chip onboard.
Check above for WLC code and platform limitation.

4400 wont be supported for new AP platforms starting from 3600. Best bet will be to go with 5500. 3500 and 3600 both support clean air functionality. You have to pay a very high premuim for the clean air technlogy. If you have a budget constarin and inteference is not a big concern for you 1260 or 1140 can do it for you. 3600 comes with 3x3 MIMO which can provide you higher throughtput compared to any other AP available in the market.
