AP using a switches IP address

rgm

Level 1

I am adding new APs but when they boot up they use the address of one of the Switches making it impossible to SSH into the switch.

Isn't the AP suppose to make sure that the IP address is available?

How can I force the AP to change its IP address without setting it statically?

Can I reserve in the controller a range of IP addresses that the APs cant use?

I think your dhcp server needs to have reservations. It’s not the AP but your dhcp.

Hello,

The problem is that your switch is using an IP address that is part of the IP address range provided by DHCP server.

You can go to whatever is your DHCP server and exclude that IP from pool.

WLC no necessarily is the DHCP server for APs.

Make sure you have the correct information of who is who one your network.
