Hi,
Has anyone actually managed to deploy the AP1252s in dual radio mode and been able to power via a POE device?
The information regarding max power supplied is misleading.
For example, the 6500 802.3af POE line cards appear to only provide a max of 16.8W (from the 12.2.33SXH2 release notes).
The 4500E with the new enhanced POE line cards can apparently provide 20W with 12.2.44SG release.
The 3560E/3750E documentation is contradictory - early bulletins state support for Enh POE and then the more recent notes state that it is not supported.
Any real world experience of this issue would be greatly received.

What you have here is correct. 6500 with a sup720 and 12.2.33shx2 will only provide max of 16.8W. The E-Series can provide the 20W max as long as you have the correct code.

Hi Scott,
I have seen this presentation and read the release notes - however, I'm still not convinced that the 6500 and 3560E/3750E swtiches will support the requried power output (over 18W).
|Have you or your customers actually deployed this scenario?

I have a bunch of these deployed and works fine. Even with the 6500, the 2.4GHz will not power up to 100mW which is okay in most cases, because we usually have voice deployments and are regulating 25mW.

I'm also sceptic for the 3750-E serie;
cause according the specifications one port provides 15.4 Watt max - but in the Powering Options for the 1250 you find: "Cisco Catalyst switch port capable of sourcing 18.5W or greater"
AND although Cisco writes: "AP1250 with one RM1252 radio module installed: 12.95 W"* - I failed to use PoE with a 3650 Catalyst.

3 choices for Switch PoE power;
1) PoE IEEE 802.3af (today) up to 15.4 watts, won't fully power 1250
2) PoE+ IEEE 802.3at (future 2009) up to 30 watts using WS-X4648-RJ45V+E
3) Cisco Enhanced PoE (today proprietary via CDP on 3705E/6500 today) for between 15.4 watts up to 20 watts for 1250
How to configure 3750-E for Cisco Enhanced PoE (proprietary)
This example shows how to configure a port to supply 20w to an attached device:
Switch(config-if)# power inline port maximum 20000
Switch(config-if)# power inline auto max ?
<15400-20000> milli-watts

so does this simply mean:
the product data sheets of the E serie catalysts (which definitly point out a max of 15.4 W) is outdated and with the SW release 12.2-44 this limit is raised to 20W?
