AP3800 Suddenly Become Intermittent

Hi Guys,

I have some 3800 AP in production environment connected to PoE switches with 5500 WLC (AireOS 8.5.124.64). Suddenly one of them became intermittent. My monitoring tools said that the AP went up and down for several time in an hour. When I checked the log on the switch port, the port did not went down. So I checked the WLC log and found the following log:

*osapiBsnTimer: Dec 16 12:59:15.255: %DTLS-3-HANDSHAKE_FAILURE: [SA]openssl_dtls.c:3224 Failed to complete DTLS handshake with peer 10.152.49.34
*spamApTask2: Dec 16 12:49:08.143: %CAPWAP-3-DTLS_CLOSED_ERR: [SA]capwap_ac_sm.c:7076 BASE_RADIO_MAC: DTLS connection closed forAP AP_IP_ADD (5256), Controller: WLC_IP_ADD (5246) AP Message Timeout
*spamApTask2: Dec 16 12:49:08.143: %CAPWAP-3-MAX_RETRANSMISSIONS_REACHED: [SA]capwap_ac_sm.c:7623 Max retransmissions reached on AP(BASE_RADIO_MAC),message (CAPWAP_CONFIGURATION_UPDATE_REQUEST
),number of pending messages(30)
*spamApTask5: Dec 16 12:46:47.128: %CAPWAP-3-DTLS_CLOSED_ERR: [SA]capwap_ac_sm.c:7076 BASE_RADIO_MAC: DTLS connection closed forAP AP_IP_ADD (5256), Controller: WLC_IP_ADD (5246) Echo Timer Expiry
*spamApTask5: Dec 16 12:35:34.335: %CAPWAP-3-DTLS_CLOSED_ERR: [SA]capwap_ac_sm.c:7076 BASE_RADIO_MAC: DTLS connection closed forAP AP_IP_ADD (5256), Controller: WLC_IP_ADD (5246) Echo Timer Expiry

Also there are times that my AP went down according to my monitoring but I found no corresponding log on the WLC. Any idea what is happening? I did some search and found some bug like CSCvk68835 but the condition is not identical. So I guess I can ignore that, right?

Cheers.

Hi ,

Can you tell me how the AP is powered on?

Power inj ? PoE Switch etc.

Hi Sudhir,

My AP is connected through PoE switch.

I found the problem. Apparently it was on the cabling.

Great ...!
