Hi all,

Im looking for some application to manage

and reasonably place our APs in our office.

I want to import our building plan in to

application. Is over there anything on the

net for free. I know that Cisco has WCS. But as I understand when I want to manage our APs I have to connect these APs to controllers and after that I can manage APs through WCS. Over there is not possibility to manage AP separatelly.

Any help for me..?

Thanks a lot for help.

Hi John,

you assumption is not incorrect but uncompleted.

Have a look into this thread:

http://forum.cisco.com/eforum/servlet/NetProf?page=netprof&forum=Wireless%20-%20Mobility&topic=Getting%20Started%20with%20Wireless&CommCmd=MB%3Fcmd%3Dpass_through%26location%3Doutline%40%5E1%40%40.1dd97f94/0#selected_message

Here for short:

WLSE:

Centralized Management, IDS, Heat Maps, Radio Management, needs autonomous APs

For Small Deployments (up to 100 APs) a WLSE Express may fulfill your needs.

WLSE: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/cscowork/ps3915/index.html

WLSE Express: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6379/index.html

WCS/WLC: Decentralized Managemnt, IDS, Heat Maps (only with expensive WCS version), Radio Management, needs lightweight APs.

WLC 4400: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6366/index.html

WCS: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6305/index.html

Good luck,

Frank

Hi Frank,

thanks for your info. Iv red all possibilities.

Is over there any soft which I can install on

our server ? because those solutions need specialized HW to buy.

Hi John,

nope. Not from Cisco. The wireless solutions are aplliances at all. The WLSE Express is not that way expensive and may provide you with valuable services for small WLAN deployments.

How Many APs are you serving?

Best regards,

Frank

Hi Frank,

presently 4 APs. I want to try ekahau soft.
