Hi,
I have a single access point that doesn't want to join WLC. AP model: C9120AXI-E WLC Model: 5520
Option 43 is configured on the DHCP. The rest of the APs on the same vlan are joining the WLC without problems.
I've run debugs on the wlc but did not see any events for this AP MAC.
AP receives IP address and is reachable. Packet capture shows multiple dns request send by access point to pnp.server.wifi.company.corp
I've tried reloading AP multiple times but AP still doesn't join the controller.
Any reason why this AP doesn't use the option 43 to register with the controller?
Thanks.

Ask the person to look at the manufacturing date (found on the same sticker as the serial number of the AP). If the AP is manufactured after September 2022, the WLC firmware will need to be upgraded to 8.10.18X.0 (or later).
NOTE: 8.10.19X.X is about to come out in two weeks time.

First check the Matrix support version of WLC and AP (some new AP - hear v6 or v7 does required latest code)
Option 43 should work and tested, for tesdting, why not manually console AP and issue to join the WLC see is that register ?
#lwapp ap controller ip address <WLC IP Address>
#apwap ap controller ip address <WLC IP Address>

CDP on the switch shows: Cisco AP Software, ap1g7-k9w8 Version: 17.6.4.56
Platform: cisco C9120AXI-E, Capabilities: Router Trans-Bridge
This is a remote site with limited IT resources therefore was trying to configured the new AP remotely.
Are your cli commands correct or should it be #capwap ap controller ip address? ?
Thanks

Dear Ziqex,
Please upgrade your WLC software version to latest software version if your access points manufacturing month is after September'22. You need to upgrade software to latest appropriate image if access point manufacturing is after september'22.
Please refer : https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/wireless/catalyst-9120axi-access-point/218081-c9105-c9120-c9130-access-points-manufact.html
Good Luck

It was checked and manufacturing date is 10/2022 with Version being V07.
I assume wlc upgrade will be the only option. Thank you.

If compatibility states that supported access point 1830 does it mean that AP AIR-AP1832I-E-K9 is supported?

- The field notice talks in AireOS terms (controller softtware version):
>....If a Cisco product runs Cisco AireOS 8.10.171.x or earlier, upgrade to Cisco AireOS 8.10.18x.0 or later.
It would be advised to upgrade accordingly , if the AP is affected by the manufacturing hw version update ,
