C9800-CL SSO Mobility MAC configuration

Hi, reading the below link they recommend to manually configure the Mobility mac

Ensure that you configure the mobility MAC address using the wireless mobility mac-address command for HighAvailability to work.

Which mac address is this? is it the one we get after SSO is configured?

WLC#show chassis
Chassis/Stack Mac Address : 000c.2946.744f - Local Mac Address
Mac persistency wait time: Indefinite
H/W Current
Chassis# Role Mac Address Priority Version State IP
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 Standby 000c.2946.744f 2 V02 Ready 169.254.173.231
*2 Active 000c.2985.ba2c 1 V02 Ready 169.254.173.233

If i leave the value without configuring it I see that the mac-addresses changes

WLC#sh wireless mobility summary
Mobility Summary

Wireless Management VLAN: 20
Wireless Management IP Address: 10.1.1.1
Wireless Management IPv6 Address:
Mobility Control Message DSCP Value: 48

Mobility Multicast Ipv4 address: 0.0.0.0
Mobility Multicast Ipv6 address: ::
Mobility MAC Address: 001e.f618.ceff
Mobility Domain Identifier: 0x281f

I tried with this one but when I do a redundancy force-switchover i see that the mac-address changes

correct that would be the mac address you will end up after enabling SSO, this MAC can be use to configure mobility groups with other WLCs.

Hi Team:

I know this is a old post. I just want to know if the mobility mac address has to be the same on both WLC.

I'm not sure.

Thank you!

Jorge

The mobility mac address on a given controller is hard coded.  So you need to enter the other/peer controller mac address.  The controller already has its own mac address defined, so when you are completed with the config, the controller mac address is listed on the top and the other/peer controller(s) are listed below that.
