Can I have two WLCs with same multicast address configured?

Scenario:

Replacing 4404s with 5508s.

Primary 4404 carried all the load.  Secondary does nothing.

New 5508.

Primary 5505 carries all the load.  Secondary does nothing.

Can I copy the old configs for multicast to the new WLCs without issue? (even if old WLCs are online?)

No, that is used for WLC to AP communication in multicast method. So you should not have any problems.

Anyway to be 100% safe, change it or disable this multicast method in your old WLC.

If you want to keep the same address copy it to 5508 & change the old WLC multicast address. Each WLC should have unique multicast address to prevent any possible complications.

If the old WLCs had no APs, could there be an issue?
