Hi my client claimed that right after thry upgraded their WLC 4402 to version 7.0.220.0 from the version that came preinstalled (factory) the can no longer console into the device. They were able to console into the 4402 before the upgrade but now they can't. I'm thinking that maybe they upgraded straight to the new version and didn't verify to see whether they were allowed to upgrade directly to that version 7.0.220.0 or if they needed to upgrade to a intermediate version , the proceed to upgrade to the 7.0.220.0.
Have anyone come across this problem?

Nope.. That is what I suggested to the client to verify if it were terminal settings or if the console port itself was bad. The client claimed that they did not put an IP on the device but To my knowledge the definitely had to place an IP for them to Upgrade the software. So now the client cannot remember the IP they used.
Apparently the image they were using was either corrupted it they did not follow the correct upgrade procedures cause depending on the software version you cannot upgrade directly to the latest version. So in this scenario the only way to revert the WLC to boot from the original version is to have a console view it via the GUI but I don't have access to any so I have no choice but to RMA the device. So Cisco is replacing it.
Thanks for the responses...
Not everyday you come across stuff like this so it's good to know.
Once I had the IP from the client I could have fixed but as is.. It has to be replaced cause there is no way to hard reset a WLC 4402
