Cannot find RICOH printer via Wifi Network

Hi.  Printer Issues Wifi, Wireless Network Management

We have two RICOH printers here at work and all computers connected to the Ethernet on our network can print just fine (we have CISCO Switches).  When people use the wifi, however, they can't see or reach the printers at all.

Most computers here at work are automatically assigned an IP but both printers have a unique IP that is reserved for them.

The RICOH suppliers seem to think that the issue is not the printer but the CISCO switch settings that are the issue. Unfortunately, we do not have a full-time technician available with this level of expertise on-site and I am not an advanced tech but was hoping someone would know a possible solution to this with basic instructions and/or an article with the steps described as clearly as possible.

Any help would be appreciated.

Léo

Yes that will be the issue. You have two different IP subnets going on, while most "discovery" protocols are working only within the same subnet. Can you ping the printer from a wireless client? If yes and there is no firewall between the two networks, you should be able to add the printer by entering the IP address, but automatic discovery will not work.

Which printer model is it exactly?

Which printing protocols do you have enabled?

Is the printer in the same IP subnet as the wireless clients?

You might need to enable mDNS or Broadcast forwarding, or maybe another printer protocol.

The printer is a RICOH C4503, with an IP (IPv4) address of 192.168.1.130

Both printers and laptops are connected to our internal network via Ethernet.

Laptops do not have a dedicated IP.

We also have access points (wifi) plugged in our Ethernet.

Which printing protocols do you have enabled? Unsure. The company who handles the setup of the printer told us everything is programmed properly and should work.

I took a look at my own laptop IP when on ethernet  192.168.1.37  versus wifi  10.10.10.48

I am no expert but I am going to assume since the wifi IPv4 address doesn't show as a 192.168.1.X  that is why it's not seeing the printer on wifi?

You need Rouitng arangement to reach each other subnet
