Is there any way to use Cisco 1010 Light Weigh Access Point as a stand alone Cisco Aironet device, without having a WLC.
We have few 1010 LWAP, but no WLC. These AP's are based on Power over Ethernet feature. We connect these AP's to a POE based switch, they are up. By enabling DHCP on the switch we are able to get an IP address for the same AP,also we can easily ping the IP address. But when we try to open the HTTP based management console for the AP, at that time it didn't work. Do we need to have a WLC for the configuration and management, or is there any other way out for it.

1010 can't work as a stand alone AP, it can only work with a WLC

although it is power up by using POE based switch. The only reason that we cant able to open the http based management interface is the un availability of WLC. kindly comment on it

Hi Mansoor,
You have to keep in mind that the 1010 is a "true" Lightweight AP. This means there is no IOS on the AP for it to be able to operate in a "standalone" or Autonomous manner. So, on Lightweight AP's there is no http based management interface. All config settings must be done via a WLC :(
Hope this helps!
